Detailed design including trigger of two gate guillotine style repeating corral hog trap for texas wild pig eradication.
Guillotine trap door trigger.
I personally prefer the guillotine door as it generally has a bigger opening and it is positively closed with an active latch to prevent pigs from rooting.
Therefore it is extremely important that the trap be strategically baited to insure that most if not all of the pigs in a sounder have entered the trap.
With the door in the open position make the rod long enough to run along the top of the trap from the bait pan assembly to 2 inches past the bottom end of the door.
The length of time from when a trap is installed to when the trigger is set can take weeks or months or even longer depending on how quickly feral hogs are trained to enter the trap.
Step 2 bend one end of the trigger rod into a small 1 inch loop with a pair of pliers.
Guillotine or drop style doors are called single catch doors because once the trap has sprung that is the door has closed no more animals can enter the trap until it is manually reset.
This is not a continuous trapping door once it s closed it s closed until you come and manually open it or reset it.
The door is held open by wedging the root stick behind the set stakes.
The root stick trigger is dependent upon gravity and is best suited for use with a sliding drop door.
I have some cage traps but they are swinging doors.
The trigger is set only when all hogs in a.
I also want to build one with a door at each end and a live bait compartment in the middle.
