Handicap Stair Rail Height

Top of gripping surfaces of handrails shall be 34 inches 865 mm minimum and 38 inches 965 mm maximum vertically above walking surfaces stair nosings and ramp surfaces.

Open risers are not permitted. The height of your handrail must also remain consistent above walking surfaces stair nosings and ramps. Top rail may also serve as handrail if height of the system is between 36 and 38 inches.
